All-New Marvel NOW! Phase Two

Updated on May 19, 2014

Not Really a Reading Order...It's a Marvel Concept in 2014

Began: December 2013

Ends: May 2013

This is the (unofficial) All-New Marvel NOW! Summary Page, also called "Marvel NOW! Second Wave".

In the "genius" that is Marvel, they've come to a concept - not necessarily a Reading Order - whereupon you can jump into their comic books with the start of a Point One issue and some rebranding. This is there second "Marvel NOW!" series, only ending a short while after the first.

Okay..that's Geek Speak! What does this really mean? Basically, Marvel is cancelling some of the issues that didn't go well. In attempts to make it look planned, they're renaming some issues and rebranding others. To give some advertising push, it's being stamped as "All-New Marvel NOW!" (Notice the exclamation mark? That means "OH BOY!")

In any event, to get a better understanding, we have to begin looking at it in-depth. What you'll find here is an honest attempt to catalog the issues and show the story lines. Nothing fancy; just a needle in this haystack so we don't get mired in muck. You'll get some artwork, opinions, and links to relevant articles. Oh yeah, and if there's a Reading Order in there, you may see that, too.

But First, The Avengers - Marvel Releases Avengers #24 on December 24, 2013

And So It Begins...with the release of an Avengers issue. In this case Avengers #24 (2013); it was released in the last week of December 2013 as a Christmas Present. The issue also infers that the events happen in December 2013.

The picture above is a part of a huge poster release with the issue from Daniel Acuna.

Avengers #24 - Starting in the future (3030 A.D.), a futuristic Iron Man heads to the past with a mission unknown. Franklin Richards arrives in time to stop him, but decides to let him try one last time. In our present time of 2013 A.D., the Avengers are partying at the tower. Looks like a BBQ in December until the future Iron Man appears. Quickly, he determines if this is the correct timeline; comments like "Hyperion shouldn't be here" and so on, are made. Ultimately, it turns out to be the right place. Or timeline. Future Iron Man then warns them of a Rogue Planet shooting in space towards the Earth. For the next few weeks, he and the Avengers build a machine on Mars that they attach to the planet. It shifts it "slightly" out of phase. Then Thor and Hyperion change its orbit and establish it's axis. The Result: The Rogue Planet now shares the exact same space and orbit as Earth...

...and this makes Future Iron Man very happy. At least, happier then she was; yeap, turns out that Future Iron Man is a girl descended from Tony Stark. (Not surprised.) She tells her grandfather that now Earth has a better chance than in her future, as well as advanced resources and properties of wonder that they will discover soon enough. After that, the time jump that she made ends and she returns to her future.

And me? I'm just wondering who gave Future Iron Man and the Avengers permission to meld my planet with another one. Can I get an Amen?

And Then There was One Point: Point One - The Actual Start of the All-New Marvel NOW!

In typical Marvel fashion, their latest move - at least in the last three or so years - has been to release a POINT ONE issue that unveils some of their upcoming story lines. This year is no different. And it appears the host of the 2014 All-New Marvel NOW! is none other than Loki.
